Braces work by applying light, steady pressure to the teeth. Small brackets are bonded to the front of each tooth and linked by a thin archwire. As the wire is adjusted, the teeth move gradually through the bone, and the bone remodels around them. Because the orthodontist controls each tooth in three dimensions, fixed braces can treat a wide range of problems: crowding, gaps, rotated teeth, deep bites, open bites, crossbites and front teeth that sit too far forward. They are often the first choice when the bite itself, not only the look of the front teeth, needs correcting.
At Veloradent you can choose between two bracket types. Stainless-steel brackets are small, strong and the most economical option. Ceramic brackets are tooth-coloured and much less noticeable at a conversational distance, which many adults prefer for work. Both use the same wires and achieve the same tooth movement. Ceramic brackets are slightly larger, and the elastic ties around them can pick up stains from coffee, tea and curry, so they need a little more care. Dr. Omar Al Suwaidi will explain which option suits your bite and your routine.
Treatment starts with a full orthodontic assessment, X-rays and photographs, followed by a written plan with the expected duration and total fee. Fixed braces start from AED 8,500 for a full course, and the final figure depends on how complex your case is and which brackets you choose. Adjustment visits take place every four to eight weeks at our Trade Centre or JLT clinic, and the JLT clinic is open in the evenings and at weekends. When the braces come off, you receive retainers to hold the result in place.

Treats complex bites
Fixed brackets give the orthodontist precise control over each tooth, so braces can correct crowding, crossbites, deep bites and open bites that removable aligners may not manage as predictably.
Nothing to remember
Braces work around the clock without you having to wear, remove or swap anything. This makes them a reliable option for teenagers and for adults with unpredictable schedules.
Metal or tooth-coloured
Choose discreet ceramic brackets that blend with your enamel, or durable stainless steel. Teenagers can pick coloured elastic ties and change the colour at each visit if they wish.
A clear fee before you start
Your written plan states the expected duration and total fee before treatment begins, and you can spread the cost with 0% instalments over 3, 6 or 12 months on selected bank credit cards.
How treatment works
Orthodontic consultation
Your orthodontist examines your teeth, bite and jaw, takes X-rays and photographs, and discusses whether metal or ceramic braces suit you. You leave with a clear idea of the likely duration and cost.
Fitting your braces
The brackets are bonded to your teeth with a tooth-safe adhesive and the first archwire is placed. The appointment usually takes 60–90 minutes and involves no injections or drilling.
Regular adjustments
Every four to eight weeks the orthodontist adjusts or changes the wire and checks progress. Visits are short, and any tenderness after an adjustment usually settles within two or three days.
Retainers and aftercare
Once the teeth are in position, the braces are removed and the teeth are polished. You receive fixed or removable retainers, or both, and attend reviews to make sure the result stays stable.

Frequently asked questions
How much do braces cost at Veloradent?
Fixed metal braces start from AED 8,500 for full treatment. Ceramic brackets and more complex cases cost more, and your orthodontist will give you the exact fee in writing after the consultation. You can pay in 0% instalments over 3, 6 or 12 months on selected bank credit cards, or split payments with Tabby or Tamara. Direct insurance billing with major insurers is available at our Trade Centre clinic if your policy covers orthodontics.
Do braces hurt?
Fitting braces is not painful. Most people feel pressure and tenderness for a few days after the braces go on and after each adjustment, which usually eases with soft food and an over-the-counter painkiller. The brackets can rub the inside of the cheeks at first. Orthodontic wax helps until the mouth adapts, which in most cases takes one to two weeks.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the gums and supporting bone are healthy, and orthodontic treatment for adults is common. Ceramic brackets keep treatment discreet at work. If you have gum disease or missing teeth, your orthodontist may coordinate with a periodontist or a prosthodontist so that the braces fit into a wider treatment plan.
What can I eat with braces?
You can eat most foods, but hard, sticky and chewy items can loosen brackets or bend wires. Avoid nuts, hard sweets, toffee and chewing gum, and do not bite directly into whole apples or corn on the cob. Cut food into small pieces and brush carefully after meals, using interdental brushes to clean around the brackets.
Should I choose braces or Invisalign?
Both can straighten teeth well. Braces are fixed and give more control over complex tooth movements and bite corrections. Invisalign is removable and nearly invisible, but the aligners must be worn for 20–22 hours every day. At your consultation the orthodontist will tell you honestly which option is more predictable for your case, and whether either one is suitable.
